Crawford Slams His Critics After Spence Win, Reaction And More

Terence Crawford has hit out at his critics after he stopped Errol Spence Jr.

But came out victorious in the ninth-round to become the first undisputed welterweight champion of the four-belt era.

Crawford put on a sublime performance, as Spence had no to answer to Bud’s speed, skills and power, as the ‘Truth’ was stopped in the ninth round.

And in the process of doing so, Crawford put Spence on the canvas three times prior to the stoppage.

The narrative coming into the fight was that Crawford’s resume was not comparable with Spence.

Despite stopping all of his opponents at welterweight, Crawford’s level of opposition was questioned, with Spence claiming he had not fought anyone.

But now that Crawford has come out victorious, he let everyone know in no uncertain terms that he deserved to be mentioned amongst the greats.

Crawford’s Comments

“I get to tell you that I told you so because I’ve been asking for these fights for year years, and y’all been saying, ‘He’s too small. He’s going to get this, and he’s going to get broken.

“Each and every time, I proved you wrong. Each time. So write some great stories about Terence Crawford. Don’t hate on him. Don’t say nothing negative. Just give me my props,”

“They never gave us our props, the reporters and websites. I’m just glad. It hasn’t sunk in yet. To me, I just look at it like it’s another day. You also got to give props out to the whole team,” Crawford

On The Rematch

Crawford’s greatness was also shown in the manner in which he responded to the rematch terms.

Spence expanded on how he was looking to get the rematch at 154 pounds. Although that may have been the case, it was in Crawford’s interests to keep the rematch at 147.

After all, the ease with which he won proved that. Moreover, since Spence has stated that his last fight was over at 147, Crawford could have used that as a bargaining chip.

And yet, Bud stated that he would be happy to run things back at 154.

It definitely doesn’t have to be at 147. I’m in the hurt business. 147 was kinda hard for me, too. I was already talking about moving up in weight and challenging (Jermell) Charlo, so 154 wouldn’t be out of reach.

“I don’t take no fighter lightly,” he said. “I’m always up for each and every one of the fighters I’m facing. Y’all know that from my past performances and how I come in the ring 110 percent prepared,” Crawford

Facing Spence at 154 would be the perfect opportunity to set up a bout with Jermell Charlo at junior middleweight.

The latter is set to face Canelo Alvarez on September 30th, 2023, as he gets ready to jump up two-weight classes in order to take on the Mexican at super middleweight.

Canelo is the heavy favorite, with many expecting that the Mexican will be too big. And if Charlo were to come out second best, then a fight with Bud could follow.

Regardless of what the case may be, Bud was praised for the manner in which he won.

Reaction To Crawford’s Win

“I thought that it was going to be a much, much tougher fight, but you never know. Basically, after the second round, when Terence dropped Errol, it was kind of a one-sided show with Terence doing whatever he wanted with Errol.

“Errol Spence is used to being the bully and being able to back you up. But Bud had him backing up and having to think, so it was a little different for him.

“It seemed like Terence was a more skillful fighter, whereas Errol was the bigger, more powerful guy. I kind of was surprised, but at the same time, it was one of those type of fights that whoever got off first doing what they do best was actually going to win.

“Once he found out that Terence could handle what he had to offer, he just had nowhere to go,” Jeff Mayweather

“Congrats @terencecrawford you are a f***ing great fighter well deserved. I like Spence but… Crawford too good for Spence thats why I pick him to win,” Canelo

Crawford showed how truly great he was in becoming undisputed in his second weight class with the win.

And at a time where boxing has been questioned for the best fighters avoiding each other, Crawford’s performance was refreshing to see as it showed a throwback fighter who had nothing to lose.

In addition with Mayweather’s 50-0 record in sight, coupled with the fact that he has become undisputed unlike ‘TBE,’ Crawford is arguably one of the greatest of all time. And there is no getting away from that moving forward.
