Crawford Praises Keyshawn Davis’ World Title Win – ‘Going To Be Around For A Long Time’

Terence Crawford reacted to Keyshawn Davis stopping Denys Berinchyk to win the WBO Lightweight Title.
Keyshawn produced a comprehensive performance, dropping his man twice before getting him out of the ring with a fourth-round stoppage. It was Keyshawn’s first world title as he extended his undefeated record to 13-0. In his post-fight comments, Keyshawn called out Gervonta Davis and Vasiliy Lomachenko for his next fight. Crawford was ringside to watch Keyshawn do his business. He was impressed by how Keyshawn was targeting the body, slowing down his opponent down before moving upstairs. His left hook was the most lethal weapon.
While the Ukrainian started off well in the first round, using his lateral movement, he never looked like he could hurt Keyshawn. Davis was much stronger and more powerful. Crawford recognized that there was a big size difference, as Keyshawn has spoken previously about wanting to fight 140 and 147 pounds. If he cannot get those big fights at lightweight, Keyshawn may decide to move up to 140 or beyond to face the other champions. He could easily compete with the other champions, such as Teofimo Lopez, who holds the WBO belt at 140.
Crawford Reacts
Equally, he has a frame that is big enough to challenge the other champions, such as the IBF Junior Welterweight Champion Richardson Hitchins. There were some comparisons drawn between Keyshawn and Crawford, given that they are both very powerful fighters. But Crawford made it clear that Keyshawn is his own man, as they have their own style. But he was impressed by what he has seen, as he expects him to dominate the sport for years to come.
“He looked at me, and I said, ‘Good body shot. Start going down to that body.’ He started going down to the body and slowing him down. His punches were sharp. I said, ‘Everything is under control.’ It would be a tremendous fight. You have two talented fighters. Both of them are counter-punchers. Both of them are smart. Tank might have a little more power, but Keyshawn has power, too. It would be a great fight, and I think Keyshawn would win. We’re different in a lot of ways. He has his style, and I have my style. We both have great styles, and Keyshawn is going to be around for a long time,” Crawford said
