Crawford Denies Having Beef With Spence

Terence Crawford has downplayed any suggestions that there was any animosity between him and Errol Spence Jr.
Crawford stopped Spence in the ninth-round in a dominant manner that put him as the best welterweight of this era.
The narrative prior to the fight, however, was that both fighters did not see eye-to-eye.
The differences with promoters and guarantees over the purse splits resulted in the fight not getting made for some time.
Not only that, but in the pre-fight media build up, both fighters fired shots at each other.
Bud vowed to ‘suffocate’ the self-proclaimed ‘Big Fish.’ Meanwhile, Spence promised to break Crawford’s will.
Bur for all the stuff that had been said, Crawford had nothing but good words to say about his opponent.
Crawford’s Comments
“I respect the hell out of Errol. I been telling people, I’m a fan of Errol’s. I’ve been a fan of his ever since he was in the amateurs. I followed his career. Things like this was never personal.
“I think the fans picking sides try to make it personal, try to divide and conquer two fighters that are going for the same goal and trying to be undisputed welterweight champion of the world. That’s what I felt the fans was trying to do. I never had any hatred toward Errol Spence anytime that he had an accident or anything I wished him well,” Crawford said
This mutual respect was seen in the post-fight behavior between the two fighters. Both welterweights exchanged hugs, as Bud thanked Spence for doing his part to get the fight made.
Crawford’s Post-Fight Comments
“If it wasn’t for you, this would never have happened. So I appreciate you. You’re a helluva fighter; you already know that. I appreciate this opportunity,” Crawford
In addition, Crawford was open to facing Spence once again at 154. After all, Bud could have made the argument for fighting a weakened Spence at 147 again, given he does dictate the terms of the weight class.
And that respect for each other is ultimately what the sport of boxing is about. You can stay up-to-date with the latest happenings in the world of boxing by visiting boxingblitz right here.
