Crawford Calls Out The WBA For Not Delivering His Belt After Beating Spence

In today’s boxing news, Terence Crawford has called on the WBA to deliver him the belt that he had acquired from Errol Spence Jr. following his ninth-round victory.
Crawford stopped Spence to become the first undisputed welterweight champion of the four-belt era. And the ease with which Crawford achieved the victory took many by surprise.
Bud dropped Spence three times before securing the win, as the much-larger Spence had no answer to the shots that were coming his way.
The victory kept Crawford’s unbeaten record intact, meanwhile, Bud became undisputed in a second weight class. Thereafter, Crawford hit out at all his critics who had questioned his boxing resume prior to the fight, including Spence himself.
“If you look at my fight with Errol Spence and how easily I defeated Errol Spence compared to all these guys [I fought in the past] that they were calling bums, that should tell them something right there. The guys you were calling bums put up a better fight than your favorite fighter. The fight was much easier than I thought it would have been. “There’s no comparison. When you compare Errol Spence to Terence Crawford, there is no comparison. My career, I’m already going to the Hall of Fame. If we retire right now, he’s not going to the Hall of Fame…Another fight for the undisputed, and then I walk away. Three times undisputed,” Crawford stated

But for all of the success that came his way, it appears that the WBA belt has still not found its way into his possession.

This naturally begs the question: Will Crawford defend his 147 titles? Well, as of now, Spence has activated his rematch clause, with the fight looking like it could take place at 147.
By virtue of being the winner in the first fight, Crawford has the right to choose the weight class. While Spence has indicated his desire to run things back at 154, Crawford did confirm that the contract states a rematch at 147 unless a fighter informs otherwise in writing that they cannot make the weight. Therefore, having the WBA belt could hint that the rematch is at welterweight.
Rematch Terms
“Well the contract states that either one or the other gotta notify in writing that he can no longer make the weight,” said Crawford on Weighing In with Travis Hartman. “If not, the fight will be at 47. The contract states that it has to go at 47 since neither I nor Errol notified each other saying that we can’t make the weight,” Crawford
Regardless of the terms of the rematch, Crawford has ultimately created history. And in doing so, he will go down in the conversation of being one of the best of all time.
And with that, it is only right that the boxer’s achievements are recognized with the belts that were won. With that being said, there could be some major developments coming soon.
After all, Crawford’s next fight is in the works. Find all the latest boxing news and MMA breaking updates on boxingblitz.
