Cory Sandhagen Stops Deiveson Figueiredo; Calls Out Winner Of Dvalishvili Vs. O’Malley
Cory Sandhagen stopped ex-flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo in the second round at UFC Des Moines.
It was a massive win for Sandhagen as he moved closer to securing a title shot against the UFC Bantamweight Champion Merab Dvalishvili. The first round was dominated by Sandhagen, who landed several ground-and-pound shots. Meanwhile, Figueiredo was attempting leg locks to exert his physicality. It was the same story in the second round, with both men trying to secure submissions by using their legs. However, Figueiredo suffered a knee injury, allowing Sandhagen to take control. He connected with numerous strikes to secure a stoppage in the second round. It was the perfect response from Sandhagen, who suffered a loss in the fight before against Umar Nurmagomedov.
“My style is very good right now, man. I’m ready to fight for the belt. Sean O’Malley, Merab (Dvalishvili)… I want the winner. I can be the back-up if they want. I’ve dreamed to be the world champion for half of my life now. UFC, please give me an opportunity to show the world how great I am,” Sandhagen said
