Conor McGregor Causes Stir With Doctor's Visit

Conor McGregor’s Instagram post showing him at a doctor’s office has gotten fans talking after his presser with Michael Chandler was canceled.

McGregor will take on Chandler at UFC 303 on June 29. It will be his first UFC fight since 2021, when he suffered a loss and broken leg against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. McGregor underwent serious rehabilitation on his leg, raising questions about whether he would ever return. Fans would only know the answer to that question once McGregor gets in the Octagon to see if his leg holds up. The press conference was set for June 3 from the 3Arena in Dublin. But the UFC called it off, while McGregor said obstacles were preventing it from happening.

McGregor Reacts

“In consultation with the UFC, todays press conference was cancelled due to a series of obstacles outside of our control. I apologize to my Irish fans, and fans around the world, for the inconvenience and appreciate all your passion and support. I can’t wait to put on the greatest all-time show in the Octagon,” McGregor said

Ariel Helwani followed up those comments, saying the UFC put out ‘feelers’ for a replacement. However, he still expected the fight to happen.

“No news at the moment. The hope is still that the fight is on. There is positivity, I’d say. But they have sent out feelers to see who might be able to fill in, either as a replacement or an entirely new fight at the top of the bill. Still developing, and still some time,” Helwani stated

Now, McGregor has fuelled speculation over an injury. The following picture shows McGregor lying down at the doctor’s office with a smile.

Should the fight happen and McGregor win, he could face Leon Edwards or Islam Makhachev. Edwards, the UFC Welterweight Champion, has reacted to a possible Makhachev fight. Makhachev defended his UFC Lightweight Title for the third time, beating Dustin Poirier at UFC 302 via a fifth-round submission. After the win, Islam expressed his desire to chase a belt at welterweight, calling out Edwards.

That could signify Islam’s end at the weight class. He has already beaten the big names, including Charles Oliveira, Alexander Volkanovski and Poirier. Before a fight with Edwards, Islam could face Arman Tsarukyan next.

Meanwhile, Edwards defends his welterweight belt against Belal Muhammad. It is a rematch of their 2021 clash, which ended in a no-contest after Edwards accidentally poked Muhammad. Edwards has 12 wins on the bounce, with that one no-contest, since losing to Kamaru Usman in 2015. His last fight was a win over Colby Covington at UFC 296 last year. Provided Edwards beats Belal, he is open to facing Islam.

“I’d welcome it. I think we both have work to do within our divisions. He just fought his first lightweight, actual lightweight, first defense. I feel like he’s got a few more lightweights he’s gotta go through first, before even thinking about moving up… It’s a massive fight. I feel like I’ve got work to do within my division first, then the super fights will come,” Edwards said
