Conor McGregor Blasts Ilia Topuria – ‘A Little Fool’
Conor McGregor made some scathing comments about UFC Featherweight Champion Ilia Topuria.
McGregor’s comments were made after the suggestion that Topuria could become one of the biggest names in the UFC. He is coming off the best career win, knocking out Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 298 to become the featherweight champion. The win ended Volkanovski’s four-year run as a champion and gave the Australian his first stoppage defeat.
Topuria’s star power began slowly increasing as he was pictured at Real Madrid’s soccer ground. He was also pictured with soccer legend Lionel Messi. Topuria backed himself to become the highest-paid athlete by 2025 on Forbes. McGregor managed to achieve that feat in 2021. However, when he asked about Topuria, he did not see the UFC fighter on that level. He compared Topuria to his former teammate, Artem Lobov, who has sued McGregor, claiming he is owed money from McGregor’s sale of his Proper 12 Irish whiskey.

“I’ll tell you why I said what I said about him. Because he’s talking about, he’s going to be the highest paid athlete in 2025. It’s 2024. It’s actually now. The 2025 highest paid athlete list begins right now. The list came out only recent and that means he’s going to have to rake in about $200, $300 million. Don’t be silly, lad. It just reminded me of Artem Lobov. Just a stupid, little fool. Talking billions from a…banger of a car. Thinks he knows it all, he’s only a little baldy fool,” McGregor said
If Topuria is to secure those big paydays, he must remain active. He has been criticized for not defending his belt, as his next fight remains unclear. He has been linked with the Volkanovski rematch and a fight with Max Holloway. Topuria even expressed his desire to face McGregor. The McGregor fight is unlikely to happen since he will fight Michael Chandler on June 29 at UFC 303.
The fight takes place at 170 pounds, so even if Topuria moves up to welterweight, McGregor cannot be expected to come down. Topuria will likely fight Max Holloway next. Blessed called out Topuria following his win over Justin Gaethje at UFC 300 to win the BMF Belt. Topuria was open to the fight, provided the BMF Belt was on the line. If the fight gets made, McGregor has backed Holloway to win.
“Holloway, too light, too fast. I think Holloway picks him apart. If they fight. Holloway has done it, he has that featherweight title. He’s had it for a long time. He’s now the ‘BMF.’ Topuria, for me, is a non-champion in my opinion. He might have a strap but it’s a meaningless strap, in my opinion, as he holds it. I don’t see any attraction to it. What’s he Georgian? Spanish? What is he? I don’t even know where he is. I don’t get the buzz with him. There is no buzz with him. He needs to keep fighting. Topuria needs to keep fighting,” McGregor stated
