Conor McGregor Appeals Sexual Assault Lawsuit Verdict

Conor McGregor has appealed the civil sexual assault lawsuit, which found him guilty after Nikita Hand won damages against him.
McGregor was ordered to pay her damages and legal expenses after she accused him of sexually assaulting her in 2018 in a Dublin hotel room. McGregor’s friend, James Lawrence, was initially named in the legal case. But he was cleared, leaving McGregor to face the brunt of the consequences. The Notorious immediately said that it was his intention to appeal the decision, maintaining that he was an innocent man.
“How these lies were accepted, I will never know. A court of feeling and opinion, brainwashed in to people via the main stream media. Not of fact. The reporting in court a laughing stock to everyone present. As clear as day bias. This is not a court of hard evidence and truth. It is a kangaroo court of opinions and feelings. We are not done yet. Not by a long shot. No chance. On we fight! Justice and truth will prevail! [I will] appeal. Appeal! Appeal! As well as other. Congrats James! Onwards and upwards,” McGregor stated
He suffered numerous financial consequences as a result of the findings. The Hitman video game franchise said they would no longer work with McGregor. The Proper Number 12 Irish Whiskey brand also cut McGregor from their marketing. Meanwhile, Irish airports in Dublin and Cork stated they would not stock his alcoholic beverages. Irish politician Ruth Coppinger even went so far as to state that she was not against the idea of a public boycott of McGregor’s products.
McGregor Reputation
“Obviously I feel people already are boycotting his products and there has been a massive commercial backlash for Conor McGregor. People shouldn’t support Conor McGregor, his products nor his premises. I am surprised though that retailers have pulled his products because normally something like this doesn’t affect a person. So the backlash Conor McGregor is getting is significant – retailers and sponsors are reacting and long may it continue,” Coppinger said
McGregor’s fight career has also taken a nosedive. He has not had a fight since losing to Dustin Poirier in 2021 at UFC 264. He suffered a broken leg in his third defeat out of his last four fights. His plans on making a comeback have also suffered. He pulled out of his UFC 303 fight against Michael Chandler with a broken toe. His plans on fighting Dan Hooker also failed after the latter confirmed his fight against Justin Gaethje at UFC 313.
McGregor has also said that he plans on fighting in BKFC. However, given that he has two fights left under his UFC contract, Dana White must consent to this. That has left McGregor in a very difficult situation, both inside and outside of the octagon. But he has taken steps to try and put this incident behind him by appealing the decision. If McGregor can overturn the verdict, it will no doubt do a lot for his reputation, which has taken such a beating.
