Chris Hemsworth On His MMA Dreams – ‘I’ve Trained A Lot’

Chris Hemsworth, best known for playing Marvel’s Thor, admitted to a long-held interest in testing his skills in a sanctioned MMA fight.
The 42-year-old actor revealed that martial arts have been a cornerstone of his fitness for years. Hemsworth has moved beyond basic cardio, integrating Muay Thai, boxing, and Brazilian jiu-jitsu into his routine—often engaging in intense sparring sessions. While he joked that he would likely end up “flat on his back with starry eyes,” he expressed a genuine desire to eventually step into a cage to see “what I’ve got in here.”
Hemsworth’s respect for the sport runs deep, and he was quick to identify the athletes he admires most:
- Georges St-Pierre: The former three-division champion remains Hemsworth’s all-time favorite, with the actor praising “GSP.”
- Alexander Volkanovski: Hemsworth mentioned his fellow Australian and current featherweight king, noting a personal friendship and deep admiration.
The actor’s co-star, Halle Berry, joined the conversation by sharing her own favorites, including Anderson Silva, Sean O’Malley, and flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko, who appeared in Berry’s 2020 film Bruised.
Hemsworth Reacts
“George St-Pierre, I love. Because he’s one of the all time greats, but seems like a gentleman with an intelligent soul as well. Alexander Volkanovski, [too], Australian, and a good friend of mine. One of the ones who retired a long time ago. I can just run away from them until they get tired and [motions a punch].
“No, I wouldn’t put myself in the ring, but a part of me wants to though actually having said that. I mean, I’ve trained a lot and sparred a lot over the years, but within the realm of not killing each other. I’d love to just one day go, ‘Right, what have I gotten here?’ I’d probably end up flat on my back, starry-eyed,” Hemsworth said
