Chisora Wants Ngannou – Will It Happen?

In the latest boxing news, Dereck Chisora is eying a boxing bout with Francis Ngannou following the latter’s impressive performance against Tyson Fury.

The former UFC heavyweight champion of the world earned some massive praise after taking the fight to the distance against the WBC heavyweight champion of the world.

And as part of that process, Fury was sent to the canvas in round three via Ngannou’s left hook as his boxing skills came to the fore.

Although that may have been the case, the performance was not enough to secure a win on the cards. Fury ultimately walked away with a split-decision win.

In the aftermath of that process, Ngannou targeted a rematch with Fury given the fact that some within the boxing community felt he had won.

Meanwhile, bouts with Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua were also being mentioned. And now Chisora has thrown his name into the hat as a potential opponent.

Chisora Wants Ngannou

“I love this game. I want this fight,” Chisora

Nevertheless, the chance of such a fight happening is very slim. Since Ngannou’s stock has risen massively, the MMA fighter has put himself in a postion to target some of the biggest names.

But in doing so, Chisora will not likely be at the top of the list. The former has never won a world title and has fallen short at world level with the performances.

So the fact that Ngannou troubled Fury has opened up more doors. And it may result in other MMA fighters trying to implement the same success.

Ngannou’s Success

And yet, Nagnnou’s manager, Marquel Martin, did not see other UFC fighters being capable of doing the same thing by parting ways from the UFC to secure a better deal.

“He’s done it all. He’s earned his right to say, ‘I want to fight this person on this date, and this is how.’ No one controls his destiny, right? So I’m just happy for him, man. Francis is his own boss, like he’s always been, and I’m just incredibly proud to just be a part of the ride, part of his family.

“Other fighters? Yes. Other UFC fighters? Probably not,” Martin said. “Just because it’s just a different situation that they’re in. And I’ve always said this, and I’m not trying to discredit anyone, but at the same time it’s like, when you have not only fighters, but maybe their representation, that they’re not really trying to really lay it on the line for their client.

“I hope that more fighters take a lesson from Francis, in that, of course you don’t want to do it in a disrespectful manner, but a contract is a contract. Learn your contract. Have a team around you that supports you. Know what your value is and fight for that,” Martin

Ngannou’s future appears very promising, which is why his next bout is likely to drum up a lot of interest moving forward. Find all the latest boxing news and MMA breaking updates on boxingblitz.
