Charlo Promises To Face Crawford

Jermell Charlo has promised to face Terence Crawford after his fight with Canelo Alvarez and Bud’s rematch with Errol Spence Jr.

The American will try to make history, much like Bud, by attempting to become undisputed in a second weight class.

After having achieved the feat at junior middleweight, Jermell is attempting to do the same at super middleweight by dethroning Canelo.

This will require him to jump up two-weight classes and defy the odds in the process. But rather than walking away from the sport if he were to win, Charlo has promised to face Crawford.

Bud’s confidence will be riding high after he stopped Spence in the ninth-round to become the first undisputed champion of the four-belt era.

In the aftermath of his victory, Crawford admitted that he was targeting a fight with Charlo at 154.

And now this could become a reality following Charlo’s willingness to make it happen provided that Bud overcomes Spence once again.

Charlo’s Comments

“I’M THE KING. NOTHING Will Stop Me. Mega Fights Here On Out. After My Boy’s Rematch, We Can Give The People What They Want And Make The Terence Crawford [Fight] Happen,” Charlo

Nevertheless, there are some factors to consider. If Charlo were to beat Canelo, there would most likely be a rematch clause.

That would tie up Charlo for two fights with the Mexican in total. In addition, there is no guarantee that Charlo would move down if he were comfortable at 168 by getting the victory.

And in any event, dropping back down to 154 may take its toll. After all, weight classes do exist for a reason. And yet, those close to Charlo do not see weight being an issue.

“Jermell has got some size too. I feel he’ll mesh with the [168-pound] weight really well. He can’t just bulk up and get too big and then be sluggish,. I think if he just walks around and waits, he’ll be just fine. I think he’ll be just fine. He’s big for their weight class. He can fight, and I think he’ll be more energetic at that higher weight,” Spence
