Chael Sonnen And Grant Dawson Doubt McGregor Will Fight Again

In some MMA news, Chael Sonnen has doubts about whether Conor McGregor will return to the sport following his latest social media post which hinted he had enrolled in USADA.
McGregor has been absent from the cage ever since he lost to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. And in the aftermath of that, McGregor suffered a broken leg.
Although the Irishman did indicate his intention to make a comeback to the sport in 2023 to face Michael Chandler, his status with regards to USADA is unclear.
The MMA fighter is required to submit two negative USADA samples over a six-month period before he is able to fight. Although McGregor’s status remain unclear, he did hint that he may have enrolled with the following comments: “Submitted my stuff to Novitzky, ball rolling, See you soon you little light work,” said McGregor to the UFC’s Senior VP of Athlete Health and Performance.
If those comments are taken to be true, then a comeback fight could occur at UFC 300. And yet, Sonnen has questioned whether this is the case.
Sonnen On McGregor
“I think the golden rule of life, according to my mother, is put yourself in somebody else’s shoes, and if I was in Conor’s shoes I’m not coming back,” Sonnen said. “There’s just no reason to, it’s too difficult to. There’s not a victory out there. So, now you’re coming back to be part of the moment, this is your identity, you’re a fighter, blah, blah, blah, but you’re going to lose,” Sonnen said
Ultimately, McGregor is coming back from an injury that could have threatened to end his career. And as long as the MMA fighter takes his time to come back, then the greater the chance that the fanbase will see a better version of McGregor. And that can only be a good thing moving forward.
In addition to this, Grant Dawson has suggested that McGregor will not be returning anytime soon. Those comments were made in reference to the MMA fighter no longer being in condition to compete.
This was on the basis of rumors that McGregor’s condition is not what it used to with suggestions that he may have been drinking, as well as potentially taking other substances. And given that McGregor is not short of money, the incentive may no longer be there.
Dawson On McGregor
“I don’t think he’s coming back. I don’t think he’s fighting. I think he’s going through a mid-life crisis right now. I think he’s hopped up on a bunch of street drugs. We’re going kind of deep here but the thing that makes people happy isn’t chasing happiness, it’s chasing purpose. Conor used to have a purpose, and I believe Conor doesn’t have a purpose anymore, and that’s why his life is kind of going to sh-t. He just doesn’t know what he wants to do. He doesn’t need to do anything. He doesn’t have to do anything,” Dawson stated
