Carl Froch Exposes Fury – ‘It’s About The Money’

Carl Froch has revealed that Tyson Fury’s motivation for fighting Francis Ngannou is money. 

The ‘Gypsy King’ will face the former UFC heavyweight champion on October 28th, 2023, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in a ten-round boxing match.

The narrative before this fight was that Fury had been responsible for the breakdown in talks with Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed fight.

After all, the Ukrainian had publicly accepted a 70-30 split against him despite being the unified heavyweight champion.

Therefore, the perception emerged that Fury was looking for too many concessions with the goal posts being moved. 

And now that the fight with Ngannou has emerged, Froch confirmed the real motive behind it. 

“I’ve been on to Tyson Fury, he sent me a message saying, ‘Listen, it’s about the money. It’s the biggest fight in heavyweight boxing,’ that’s what he said to me.

“I said, ‘You’re gonna be getting paid more now for this fight than any other fight you would’ve taken? So you’re telling me that’s a bigger fight than you fighting Oleksandr Usyk?’

“He was like, ‘Yeah, it’s a bigger fight, I’m getting paid more than I would’ve got.’ I’m like, ‘You know what? Fair enough,” Froch 

It is not clear if those remarks will make an undisputed fight any easier. Fury’s big payday could set up a minimum benchmark that he requires, which will put the pressure on Saudi Arabia to deliver the big bucks, as they are looking to put on the biggest fights.

However, it could equally have a positive impact. Fury may be willing to accept less provided that he can recoup the number he initially wanted against Usyk through the fight with Ngannou. 

Regardless of what the case may be, it will only fuel the ‘Greedy Belly’ narrative from Usyk’s team.

And if Fury is wanting to be the best of his era, then he will have to fight Anthony Joshua and Usyk. Failure to do so will only leave question marks over his legacy moving forward. 

But for now, Fury’s future post-Ngannou remains unclear.
