Canelo Promises To Bring His Best Against Charlo – ‘You Will See’

Canelo Alvarez has promised to be at his best when he faces Jermell Charlo on September 30th, 2023.

The Mexican faces the undisputed junior middleweight champion, as Charlo jumps up two weight classes in an attempt to become undisputed at 168.

Although Canelo is seen as the huge favorite, the champion has not been in the best form of late.

His failure to stop a much-older Gennady Golovkin and the 34-year-old John Ryder raised suggestions that Canelo was on the decline.

In addition, the boxer had been pictured playing golf and drinking, with suggestions that his motivation was not the same. But for all the criticism coming his way, Alvarez vowed to prove his critics wrong.

Canelo On His Intention

“I can tell you right now a lot of things. I’m going to do this, I’m going to be different, I’m going to make this and that. But in the fight you will see the difference. I always prove [myself] in the fight,” Canelo

Nevertheless, it is important to bear in mind the following. In the aftermath of his loss to Dmitry Bivol, Canelo underwent surgery on his wrist.

Therefore, there was a perception that he was not 100 percent ready going into the fight. But now that his hand has had some time to heal, Alvarez was looking forward to showing what he can do.

Canelo On His Injury

“When you get into the fight, you don’t have confidence to go [all out], to go 100 percent, to throw punches [all out]. But now I feel 100 percent. I can throw my hand, I can work with [trainer] Eddy [Reynoso] on the pads, I can throw my hand hard.

“That makes me feel confident in the fight. When I’m able to train 100 percent, I know I have everything to put into the fight,” Canelo

The pressure is on Canelo to deliver, but in reality, until he faces a big name at his weight class such as David Benavidez, then the jury will still be out. And there is no getting away from that.
