Canelo Is Ducking Bivol And Benavidez – Says Vergil Hunter

Vergil Hunter has accused Canelo Alvarez of ducking Dmitry Bivol and David Benavidez.
The Mexican is preparing to face Jermell Charlo on September 30th, 2023. However, since Charlo is jumping up two divisions from 154 to face the Mexican, Alvarez is seen as a huge favorite.
And since the fights with Bivol and Benavidez did not happen, Hunter has accused the Mexican of not giving the fans what they wanted to see.

“I actually think Canelo is slipping. I think he’s very hittable. I think he only throws one or two punches. I think the stamina problem is right there. One thing is that, no disrespect, he’s ducking who he really should be fighting. You wolf like you’re going to fight Bivol.
“You ridicule David Benavidez’s resume when you won your first 154-lb title against a guy that they put in the ranking, Ricky Hatton’s brother [Matthew Hatton].So if we’re looking at it truthful, right now, you’re not giving fans the fight they want to see,” Hunter
Canelo’s Problems
Nevertheless, Alvarez’s fight with Bivol had been complicated by weight issues. The Mexican was adamant for a rematch at 175, while Bivol reportedly wanted to run things back at 168 for all of Canelo’s belts.
As for a fight with Benavidez, the pressure will be on Canelo since the ‘Mexican Monster’ is his WBC mandatory. And there is no getting away from that.
This is particularly since Benavidez has already indicated that he will move up to 175 pounds at some point in the future. As a result, he gave himself three fights to make the bout with Canelo a reality.
“Probably just three fights [at 168], or close to then. I want to make these fights happen; I worked my whole f****g career to get to that moment to fight for those belts. It’s almost there, so I can’t go until I get that fight,” Benavidez
Canelo has accomplished more than what most boxers ever will, but fighters are only as good as their last fight. And there is no getting away from that.
