Canelo Alvarez Reacts To Trump’s Policies – ‘Be Calm’

Canelo Alvarez addressed concerns faced by Mexicans living in the United States amid Donald Trump’s Presidency.
Trump has indicated his desire to secure America’s borders by having a strong immigration policy. There are increasing concerns that some Mexicans may face deportation. This is despite having been in the country for a prolonged period due to the absence of any documentation. That has created a divide in the country. Some have criticized President Trump’s policies, whilst others believe it is necessary to secure a strong economy with safe borders.
Canelo is a Mexican who is considered one of the biggest stars in the sport of boxing. He made his name in the United States after having had iconic fights against Gennady Golovkin and Floyd Mayweather. He is currently preparing to face William Scull in May on Cinco de Mayo Weekend.
A victory over Scull secures him the IBF Super Middleweight Title. This is the final belt he needs to become undisputed, which would be for the second time at 168. Although the focus is the fight, Canelo took some time out to address any concerns that Mexicans may be feeling.
Canelo Reacts
“In the end, I think everyone came here to improve, to have a better life, to get ahead. I personally think they should analyze whether it is worth being here being afraid, not going out, being fugitives from the law, if it is worth staying here or going to their country.
“Everywhere, when you work, when you motivate yourself, when you go out to work, you go out to do things, you can do it anywhere. More than anything else, you have to weigh up ‘what am I doing here, I’m doing this, it’s getting me ahead, I’m doing well here, there’. Look at the balance, know if I’m going to go over there or it’s close to my family, put it in a balance.
“But everything in life, the first thing you have to do is to be at peace, to be calm, wherever you are there is nothing like having peace of mind. And I think if I can advise you anything is that wherever you are, but be calm, have peace to be able to see things clearly,” Canelo said
There is plenty on the line for Canelo moving forward following reports that he will fight Terence Crawford in September. That will be the biggest fight to be made this year, as it also gives Crawford the opportunity to become a three-weight undisputed champion.
Crawford has already achieved undisputed 140 and 147 pounds. However, victory over Canelo would go down as arguably one of the best wins on his resume. It will also solidify his position as one of the best fighters of all time. Canelo is a massive favorite due to the size difference, but given Crawford’s boxing IQ, it is an intriguing fight.
