Cacace And Wood Trade Words In Final Presser – ‘I’m Here To Do A Job’

Anthony Cacace and Leigh Wood held their final pre-fight presser ahead of their junior lightweight clash on Saturday.
The two boxers are looking to make an impression following their previous world title wins. Cacace secured an impressive unanimous decision win against the ex-two-time featherweight champion Josh Warrington in his last bout. The win solidified career, as he was the IBF Junior Lightweight Champion. However, he chose to vacate the belt for a bigger bout. Wood also defeated Warrington in his last fight, stopping him in dramatic circumstances. He was the WBA Featherweight Champion with that belt, which he vacated, as he now moves up to junior lightweight. Here is what both fighters had to say in the presser.
Cacace Reacts
“You know, if you look at my life, two years ago, I was nowhere. And now I’m fighting these caliber of fighters with nothing but respect for Lee. But I’m here to do a job, and Nottingham and I’ll do that on Saturday night.
“I genuinely don’t give a f**k about who’s here or who is gonna bring him on, no problem sound. But I don’t need anybody to bring me on. I have it in my heart and I have the desire myself. So it’s just another fight. You know, Lee, as he’s coming off a bit of a break, it’s gonna be a great fight.
I’m gonna win the fight in Nottingham, in front of his home crowd, and I’m gonna go home. Lee, he’s a gentleman. There’s no animosity. He wants to beat me, I want to beat him. That’s the way it is. It’s going to be a great scrub,” Cacace
Wood Responds
“Out of the gym. So I’ve been so disciplined and trying to get big fights for a while. I had injuries and that, but end of last year I was ready to go and I was ready to go and had to sit around and wait and see who won that fight with Kokachi and Warrington did a great job and finally here.
“People are talking like, I’ve moved up to middleweight. Oh, you’re moving up, mate. Can you eat something, like, Nah. Like, I was a freak at featherweight. I had to make my last fight for featherweight, the Warrington fight, because the belt, the occasion, my biggest domestic fight, I had to make it and it was hard, it was really hard. I was so stubborn, so I did it. So I’ve moved up. Yeah, I got an extra four pound, but I still have to come down a long way. I’m still big for the weight, but I can perform it, that’s the difference,” Wood
