Butterbean Calls Out Jake Paul – ‘I Want To Knock Somebody Out’
Eric Esch, known as Butterbean, has made Jake Paul a £1.5 million offer to fight him.
The offer comes after Paul stopped Perry in the sixth-round round to take his record to 10-1. After the fight, Paul indicated he would fight Mike Tyson on November 15. Their bout was set for July 20, but Tyson pulled out with an inflamed ulcer as Perry stepped in. Paul also called out UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Alex Pereira. Now, Butterbean has put his name into the hat.
Butterbean Reacts
Butterbean is currently 57 years old. His boxing record stands at 77-10-4. His last pro fight took place in 2013, when he retired against Kirk Lawton. After he left boxing, Butterbean decided to take up kickboxing. He won three fights, setting an overall MMA record of 17 wins in 28 MMA fights. Now, he wants to take on Paul.
“Hey Jake Paul, would you fight me for $2m [£1.5million]? Winner takes all. I’m not a typical boxer, I go out there to fight. I want to knock somebody out. Jake Paul or Mike Tyson. Jake Paul runs his mouth too much, he’s never fought nobody, I would love to fight him. I think people would like to see me and Tyson go at it, which would be a hell of a draw. Me and Tyson are actually friends but I don’t mind fighting friends,” Butterbean said
The fight is unlikely to happen based on Paul’s boxing ambitions. He has made it clear that he wants to box for a world title at some point. While facing Tyson does not take him a step closer to that, Mike is an all-time great. Having such a name on his resume will boost Paul’s CV. The Problem Child will also need more money to fight Butterbean. Reports indicate that Paul and Tyson will earn at least $20 million for their fight.
Paul Vs. Tyson
This is without any sponsorships, meaning that Paul can afford to choose who he fights. Given that Paul has already been criticised for fighting Tyson, taking on Butterbean will only worsen those verbal attacks. But if he faces Butterbean, he will be in the right weight class. Paul is moving from cruiserweight to heavyweight for Tyson, allowing him to be in shape for a future Butterbean fight. But first, he must overcome Tyson. Based on his preparation, Paul is ready.
“I know I will be able to [match the power]. I’m a natural born heavyweight, this is what I was born to do. Move up into this weight class and show Mike who has more power because he is underestimating me and I believe I hit harder. I know it’s going to be tough, I know I’m going to have to fight through adversity, I know I might even go to the canvas, I’m scared don’t get me wrong. But it’s not about the fear stopping me, it’s about going into it even though I am scared – that is what true bravery is,” Paul stated
