Buatsi Vs. Azeez Boxing Predictions

Joshua Buatsi and Dan Azeez will square off on Saturday in a huge British domestic clash in a WBA Light Heavyweight Title Eliminator, live from the Wembley Arena, London.

The two boxers are undefeated, as the former sparring partners and current friends face off. The fight has long been in the making since October last year when Azeez pulled out due to a back injury. Buatsi is 17-0, and 13 wins have come by knockout. His previous fight was in 2023, as he beat Pawel Stepien

Azeez has been more active. His last fights were in France and then in Italy. His victory over Thomas Faure happened in France, while the win over Khalid Graidia occurred in Italy. Everything is on the line, with the winner knowing they can face Dmitry Bivol for his WBA Light Heavyweight Belt.

Pre-fight Comments

“When two guys spar, it’s the one who learned the most from those sparring sessions – who got the most out of them – who benefits the most if they ever fight. It was after watching Dan and Buatsi I knew Dan was going to stop Rocky Fielding in 2022. Without a doubt sparring Buatsi meant that Dan had improved,” Buddy McGirt (Azeez’s trainer) revealed

“I feel good, pleased it’s been rescheduled because it’s a very important fight. Two undefeated fighters. Like Riddick Bowe vs Evander Holyfield, they were undefeated fighters. You can’t let them fights go. I’m so happy I was able to get the fight on. Josh is the perfect dance partner. From our spars, they’re never boring so I can’t imagine what this is going to be like. 10 ounce gloves. He can whack. I’ve got a bit of dig on me too,” Azeez said

Predictions

“A lot of people are saying it’s a 50/50 fight. But if you look at it from the outside, it kind of is because Dan is getting the momentum now. He’s come off the back of some great wins. Joshua Buatsi has had a stop-and-start career for me, but I just think if you look at pedigree and someone who can do a bit of both, it’s Buatsi that has that edge,” Ben Whittaker

“I expect a bit of both. I expect it to be Buatsi boxing early on, Dan trying to establish his range, and then there comes a point in the fight, a 12-round fight where you have to fight, you can’t box the whole time, you know, you’re going to have to hold your feet in. That’s when I think you know, Dan can get an advantage. I think I’m backing Dan Azeez,” Viddal Riley

Who Wins?

Well, he hasn’t been caught out so far. I think he’s had a massive momentum, he’s been fighting from fight from fight he’s progressed, and to be fair in the fights you count him out and say no, I don’t think he’s going to do it. He always does it as well. Definitely Joshua [has got more to loose]. You know, he’s coming from the Olympics, Olympic bronze medalist. If Dan loses, we’ll just say he was up against a fighter he was better than him, a bit more skillful and as the pedigree, whereas if Buatsi loses, you know, it’s a real hit.

“It’s a massive benefit for Dan [that he has been more active], uh, in my opinion. He’s had some great wins as well, great knockouts, and he’s just won the EBU title as well. So um, but I do believe that you know it’s going to be a 50/50 fight, but I’m backing Dan,” Adam Azim
