Joshua Buatsi secured a majority decision victory over Zach Parker in their light heavyweight clash, but the result was met with boos: 96-94, 96-94, and 95-95.

Parker started the fight well in the first, landing an uppercut that resulted in Buatsi’s gum shield falling out. Parker continued his impressive start, showing good counter-punching in first three rounds. He had arrived into the fight on a four-fight win streak, as his confidence was high. In round four, Parker landed numerous right hands as Buatsi was struggling.

And yet, Parker’s work rate began to slow down. He restored to clinching, allowing Buatsi a way back into the fight. The middle rounds produced little action, but allowed Buatsi to grow in confidence. While Parker’s team felt they had done enough, it was Buatsi who got his hands raised.

Post-Fight

“I must admit it wasn’t my best performance. But what do champions do? They win at all costs. I don’t know what style that is. You keep holding and going on the floor. How can you do that and claim you won the fight?,” Buatsi stated

“I am fuming, I won it easy. I should be changing my daughter’s and unborn baby’s life. He never won a round or landed a punch on me. I should be the champion. Everyone has eyes. He never landed a clean shot on me. I am p***ed off. It’s a joke. I gave him one early round, he couldn’t catch me, I was comfortable,” Parker said
