Bomac Tells Canelo Crawford Beats Him - 'I’m Not Worried'

Brian McIntyre has backed his man Terence Crawford to beat Canelo Alvarez and secure his legacy.

Crawford is expected to face Canelo in September on Mexican Independence Weekend. Crawford is currently a two-weight undisputed champion, having won all the belts at 140 and 147. He is undefeated with a 41-0 record, with 31 KOs to his name. He defeated Israil Madrimov in his last fight at 154 pounds to become a four-weight world champion with the WBA Belt. The problem is that Crawford was hit more than usual in the Madrimov fight. Prior to this fight, he had stopped all of his opponents at welterweight.

He will move up two weight divisions to face Canelo at 168 for the first time in his career. Jermell Charlo failed to do so when he tried this in 2023, as he lost a one-sided unanimous decision. Canelo has only suffered two defeats in his career. Those were against Floyd Mayweather and Dmitry Bivol. However, he has never been stopped in his career, meaning Crawford will face a tough fight moving forward. McIntyre has backed Crawford to do the business and make history.

Canelo Vs. Crawford

“Listen, man, we’re going to win. We’re going to win. We’re going to win. No, I’m not worried about size. I’m not worried about that. Terence got a great eye at boxing and a great boxing IQ. The only person who can beat Terence is himself. Of course, it’s human nature to be worried… And with a great guy like Canelo. But knowing how Bud is, knowing what he’s capable of doing – and I know he’s doing this for legacy, and he wanted to do this to prove everybody wrong – he’ll be all right,” McIntyre said

If Crawford were to come out victorious, he would have a massive decision to make. He could potentially retire as a three-weight undisputed champion and go down as one of the best fighters of all time. He would also secure his biggest payday, eclipsing the $25 million he received for facing Errol Spence Jr. That would give him enough of a reason to retire.

Canelo’s Future

However, Crawford has also hinted that he could come back down to 154 pounds to fight for undisputed. That would depend on the right fights and whether a one-fight undisputed bout presents itself. Sebastian Fundora holds the WBO and WBC belts, while Bakhram Murtazaliev holds the IBF title. Crawford is open to that.

“Maybe it will be a possible showdown for Terence Crawford and the winner. To become a four-weight undisputed champion is crazy. We have to weigh it out and just see what happens after this fight [against Alvarez]. None of the other fights do anything for my career. If I beat Fundora, Ortiz, or Murtazaliev, I’m supposed to beat those guys. But me fighting Canelo? I’m not supposed to beat Canelo in a lot of people’s eyes. That’s a career-defining fight, that’s a legacy fight, and the biggest fight in boxing at this time,” Crawford stated
