BKFC Lightweight Contender Ruben Warr & Robbie Peralta Set to Battle for Spot in Rankings at BKFC Pechanga

4 months

Robbie Peralta knows how to make adjustments when things don’t go well in the ring and cage. Peralta lost two of his first four professional MMA fights before rebounding and fine-tuning his skills to reach the UFC. Online boxing news shows that Peralta never found gold in one of MMA’s largest promotions but would find new life in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championships.

Peralta, who won his first three fights with the organization, has reached his first major fork in the road. After winning his first three fights in BKFC, Peralta was set up to fight the No. 4 contender Bryce Henry in Hollywood, Florida, in February. Henry ended up stopping Peralta in the second round.

Now 3-1 in the promotion, Peralta will search for the type of performance that can give him a ranking in the division this weekend at BKFC Fight Night Pechanga. Ruben Warr, who is 1-1 in BKFC, will be the man tabbed to give Peralta his next test.

Warr has never found sustained success in any discipline of combat sports. He was 12-12 as an MMA fighter and also competed in kickboxing matches. While Warr has plenty of experience striking, he doesn’t seem like the type of fighter destined to end up on top of any organization.

This is an important fight for Peralta’s career, and he won’t want to waste an opportunity to beat a less experienced fighter.

Bets to consider: Peralta ML, Over 1.5 rounds

Gutierrez, Garcia Set for Big Debuts

Alexander Gutierrez has mostly spent his career helping others. Whether it is realizing their fitness dreams or professional fighting dreams, Gutierrez is more known for helping others than trying to punch them. When Gutierrez fights at Pechanga this weekend in a flyweight bout with Zay Garcia, he will debut at a resort and casino where he works as a chef/line cook on the side.

Hopefully, Gutierrez won’t have to work a shift too close or too early following his fight with Zay Garcia. Garcia is a submission specialist who fought sporadically in MMA over the years. Gutierrez is a long-time coach and personal trainer at a UFC gym in Murrieta, California.

He also helps coach boxing at Legacy Boxing & Fitness. This will be the case to see if Gutierrez can practice the skills he teaches. Gutierrez may never be a BKFC champion, but this is a good opportunity for him to beat a fighter who may have been more comfortable grappling than striking.

Bets to consider: Gutierrez by KO

Gonzalez Set to Fight an Unknown

Finding information on Rodney Thomas, who will take on Fernando Gonzalez in the BKFC this weekend, takes more than just a simple internet search. Many top places to find information have nothing on Thomas, who has never taken part in an organized bare-knuckle boxing match, according to MMAfighting latest news. Tapology, a respected website that attempted to serve as a combat sports database, shows that his profile picture is one of Chuck Norris firing two machine guns.

Gonzalez is 0-1 in the BKFC but has a long history of taking professional fights. Gonzalez is 29-20 in MMA during his career and trains with former UFC fighter Dan Henderson. Don’t bet big on this one.

Bets to consider: Gonzalez by KO

Rosas Will Have Something to Prove

Victor Rosas wasn’t successful during his debut in the BKFC. However, Rosas has a 7-2 record in professional MMA and can at least claim to have found professional success at various points during his career. Rosas’ opponent for this card, Luis Iniguez, has been searching for a way to stay in the fight.

Iniguez, who was 6-5 as a professional MMA fighter, briefly took a break from combat sports in 2022, according to MMA latest updates. Iniguez will also have an interesting transition to make to the BKFC.

While competing in MMA, Iniguez preferred to look for submissions. That strategy will not work in the BKFC, but he has shown that his chin can hold up.

He has never been knocked out but hasn’t fought in a striking-only contest. Back Rosas to lean on his power to beat the inexperienced Iniguez.

Bets to consider: Rosas by KO

Van Vo Attempts to Right the Ship

Van Vo hasn’t found the formula for winning fights in the BKFC’s featherweight division. He has tried three times to pick up a victory and has come away empty-handed in every attempt. The issue with learning on the fly as a professional is that a sustained losing streak could leave you unemployed.

That should give Vo a great sense of urgency entering a fight with Daniel Pettit this weekend. Pettit is one of the rarest fighters on the BKFC’s roster. Pettit transitioned to bare-knuckle fighting after only one other fight in another discipline.

That meant when Pettit started training, he could put more time and effort into becoming a strong bare-knuckle fighter. Pettit is 1-1 so far in his BKFC career and likes to put on the pressure from the opening bell.

Vo came to the BKFC like many of the other fighters in the organization. At first, he attempted to fight in MMA and practiced Aikido and Taekwondo while growing up. Vo practiced his martial arts in a cabin in Dayton, Ohio.

While that fight strategy can pay dividends, it can also leave him open to being hit. This should be a fun back-and-forth contest, and Pettit will win.

Bets to consider: Pettit by decision

Here are some other fights on the card that are scheduled to happen that aren’t mentioned above:

  • Middleweight, Luis Villasenor vs. Brett Fields
  • Lightweight, Squire Redfern vs. Richard Brooks
  • Heavyweight, Caleb Joseph Avila vs. Joshua Ofiu
  • Bantamweight, Mike Hansen vs. Anthony Yost
  • Middleweight, Luther Paipa vs. Sean Hotusing
