BKFC Denver Betting Preview: Hungry Prospects Want to Follow in Mike Perry’s Footsteps

Sawyer Depee has served as a gatekeeper to the Bare Knuckle Fight Championships cruiserweight division. The last challenger who wanted to enter the division, Jonathan Miller, crashed viciously to the canvas at the end of the first round while attempting to break through in the rankings. But Depee, who is ranked fourth in the division, wants to show why he should be next in line for a shot at champion Lorenzo Hunt.

Depee is 4-2 during his time in BKFC and wants a win over Keegan Vandermeer. During BKFC 56 in Utah, Vandermeer had his eyes opened to what it takes to beat a ranked fighter. Fighting against No. 5 ranked Esteban Rodriguez, Vandermeer was knocked out in the second round.

Online boxing news shows this was likely a difficult defeat for Vandermeer, who came up with a background in boxing and Muay Thai. Vandermeer will want to keep the pace up and show he can handle the sport’s brutal nature. During Vandermeer’s last fight, he fought on the undercard of a Mike Perry bout.

Perry was interviewed by the company recently about what his advice is for the people squaring up in Denver. He believes anyone who wants to be successful needs to enjoy the road ahead.

“Put on a show and have fun on your journey,” Perry said. “The journey is what we’re here for. Take your lessons as they come. Always try to be a better fighter and a better person. Grow yourself, and grow with the sport. Let’s take this thing to the top and show that we’re the best fighters in the world, and we’re willing to bleed to prove it.”

Vandermeer and Depee have seen a majority of their fights end inside the distance. This one will too.

Bets to consider: Fight to end inside the distance, Vandermeer by KO.

Getting that Rocky Mountain Feeling

Adam Strode and Dominick Carey both enjoy fighting in the thin air of Denver. The flyweights are both looking to pick up another knockout to ingratiate themselves with the BKFC. Both fighters debuted with the promotion last September in Denver.

Strode was an active boxer, compiling a 6-3 record in traditional gloved matches. During his debut against Cary Caprio, Strode utilized that experience to open his career with the promotion with a knockout. Carey would like an opportunity to show he can win under normal circumstances.

During his debut fight with Angelo Trujillo, Carey won via disqualification. Carey took a knee from Trujillo, which wouldn’t have been weird for Carey during his MMA days, but it certainly was illegal in BKFC. Strode should lean on his long reach to win this one.

Bets to consider: Strode ML, Under 2.5 rounds

Yates Seeks to Continue Precision, Timing

Andrew Yates was a more than solid professional mixed martial artist. He compiled a 12-4 record in various promotions thanks to his kickboxing background. Yates’ professional experience will be tough for anyone in the BKFC welterweight division to handle.

Yates’ next challenge will be against another former kickboxer and MMA fighter, Joshua Huber. Huber hasn’t been as active over the past few years. He has over 30 professional MMA bouts under his belt, but most came at regional promotions.

Bets to consider: Yates by KO

Robb Could Use Some Good Luck

Cassie Robb’s career in sports is a lesson in perseverance. Whether her story is an inspiring one or a cautionary tale is likely up to the view. During Robb’s time in professional MMA, she compiled a 2-11 record.

Robb is best known for being the lone professional opponent of now-UFC commentator Laura Sanko. During her time in BKFC, Robb has been on the wrong end of all three of her fights. In two of those contests, Robb suffered a first-round knockout.

Robb’s opponent for this fight, Cristina Crist, compiled a 2-4 record as a professional MMA fighter. Boxing updates tonight show that Crist is also 0-2 in BKFC but doesn’t have the mileage on her tires that Robb does. Maybe Robb will figure things out against a less experienced opponent. But this seems like a spot where Crist picks up her first win in the promotion.

Bets to consider: Crist ML

Arroyo Hopes to Complete Underdog Story With BKFC Victory

Ruben Arroyo felt he had to battle through many periods of his life. Some were due to unfortunate circumstances, like the poverty he lived through on a Native American reservation in childhood. Other times, like his incarceration in a Texas prison, were due to his poor choices in life.

Through all this time, Arroyo has attempted to find a way to make money through fighting while raising his young son. How much Arroyo’s determination can hold up in the ring will be put to the test by Dylan Schulte. Schulte fought eight times professionally in MMA before transitioning to BKFC.

Schulte is 1-1 during his time in BKFC thus far. However, Schulte’s power and his time in combat sports should provide him an edge over Arroyo, who doesn’t have any fight experience on his record to speak of.

Vincent Trying to Put the Pieces Back Together

Zebulin Vincent didn’t have the easiest debut, taking on Vandermeer, who has a strong striking background. However, Vincent proved in his next fight against Jessie Stalder that he has some pop in his hands.

Following eight months off from fighting, Vincent hopes to provide a rude welcome to the organization for Casey Moses. Moses doesn’t have much fighting experience in his bio. This will be a challenging first fight for him to get his first fight according to world boxing latest news.

Bets to consider: Fight to not go the distance.

Here are some other fights on the card not mentioned above:

  • Lightweight, Ramiro Figueroa vs. Brett Hudson
  • Catchweight, Matt Maestas vs. Jesse Stalder
  • Cruiserweight, Danny Mitchell vs. Joseph Creer
  • Heavyweight, Lumumba Sayers vs. Jeremy Morrison
  • Welterweight,  Sergio Lopez vs. Derrick Findley
