Bivol Wants Revenge In The Beterbiev Rematch – ‘I Am Better’

Dmitry Bivol is desperate to gain revenge on Artur Beterbiev in their February 22 rematch.
Beterbiev gave Bivol his first loss as he won a majority decision to become the Undisputed Lightweight Champion. The result divided the boxing community, with some believing Bivol had done enough to win. But Beterbiev’s stronger work in the championship rounds was enough to get him the win. Luckily, Bivol will have the chance to fight for undisputed again. Beterbiev will be 39 by the time of the rematch, meaning that age is on Bivol’s side. Bivol also became the first person to take Beterbiev to the distance, showing he can handle the power.
Bivol will have to make adjustments, knowing he did not do enough. He could become more offensive. But in doing so, he risks opening up more, which could cause him to get knocked out. Beterbiev has every incentive to stop the fight inside the distance since Bivol is the only fighter who went the distance with him. While Bivol can make history, he has said it is personal as he is seeking revenge. Beterbiev did suggest that Bivol got lucky by not getting knocked out. Bivol never looked like getting stopped, but his face showed that the punches did damage even if he was blocking them.
Bivol Reacts
Dmitry knows this is his biggest fight, as another loss will prove that he is not the best light heavyweight of this era. But a win sets up a trilogy fight, giving him the chance to go down as the best 175-pounder of this era. It also opens up the door for a rematch with Canelo Alvarez, who is keen to run things back after Bivol beat him in 2022. Bivol won a unanimous decision. Canelo wanted the rematch at 175, while Bivol wanted it at 168. Talks broke down, as the pair went their seperate ways. But if Bivol becomes undisputed, there is another lucrative payday on the line involving Canelo. Bivol must get past Beterbiev first.
“This is good chance for me and I know people like first fight and they want to see second fight, and also I want to make second fight and I want to be winner of this fight. Before I was so (wanting) to have those belts and nothing else but today I want not only just belts, I want revenge, I want to fix what I did before. I want to win, not just belts, it’s not only about belts now.
“I need to change enough to prove that I’m better. [And] I need to add more, more actions. We already changed a little bit with our training camp, we add some coach in our training camp and now I’m working on myself. Of course I want to be better, I want to be perfect, and I’m trying to be. I don’t have any messages, I’m not a postman. I’m an athlete, I will come to the ring and we will talk by actions,” Bivol said
