Beterbiev Shows Off His Insane Shadowboxing - 'Bivol Is In Trouble'

Artur Beterbiev showed off his shadow boxing skills as he prepares for his Undisputed Light Heavyweight fight against Dmitry Bivol

Beterbiev defends his WBC, WBO, and IBF belts on October 12 for the chance to make history. He has knocked out all his opponents with a 20-0 undefeated record. His last fight was a win over Callum Smith to set up the undisputed fight. However, at 39, Beterbiev has shown signs he is not the same fighter. He was injured before the Smith fight and against Bivol, where the original date was set for June 1.

Bivol has made an impressive return to action. He had his first fight in around a year, beating Lyndon Arthur last December. It was the perfect response to recovering from a hand injury after beating Zurdo Ramirez. He was then meant to face Beterbiev, who pulled out with a knee injury. Malik Zinad stepped in, and Bivol knocked him out in the sixth round.

Beterbiev’s Skills

The story heading into the fight is whether Beterbiev can knock out Bivol, who is seen as a master boxer. Bivol managed to outbox Canelo and keep him at bay, something he may need to do against Beterbiev. Beterbiev will fancy his chances, as he was seen honing his skills. The following footage shows him shadowboxing in the woods. His hand speed and power will be tough to deal with. Blair Cobbs backed him to stop Bivol.

“Artur Beterbiev has unbelievable strength and power. I don’t know how Bivol is going to be able to fight somebody like that. That back and forth, bouncing up and down and that moving that he uses, I don’t know if that works against somebody that throws a lot of powerful arm punches. He doesn’t have to have a rhythm to whip your backside.

“I don’t see Bivol being able to survive something like that, but it will be very interesting. Bivol could land too many punches on Beterbiev, mess around, and start piling on points. That’s going to be a very exciting fight. It’s going to be worth looking at. I can’t wait to see that one,” Cobbs said

Bivol’s Chances

Bivol has also been undergoing intense training. The boxer is known for his athleticism and ability to stay focused for 12 rounds. He will need this to deal with a knockout artist who can end the fight. The following clip shows Bivol doing a plant in the form of a wide press-up.

As he continues the time, it becomes clear he is pushing himself before he falls to the floor. The advantage Bivol has is age. At 33, he is entering the prime of his career. This will be pivotal if he manages to take the fight to the distance. Beterbiev has never gone the full 12 rounds, while Bivol is accustomed to doing so. If Beterbiev cannot get a stoppage, that may prove critical.
