Benavidez Warns Morrell Jr. – ‘I’m Gonna Break Your Mouth’

David Benavidez and David Morrell Jr.’s first face-to-face interaction took place in their recent kick-off presser, which has excited boxing fans.
They will square off at light heavyweight on February 1 in a battle to decide who takes a step closer to facing the Undisputed Light Heavyweight Champion Artur Beterbiev. Benavidez has the WBC Interim Belt at 175, while Morrell has the WBA Interim Title. Benavidez defeated Oleksandr Gvozdyk at 175 pounds in his last fight, which marked his debut in the weight class.
While he secured a unanimous decision win, the result was criticized after Benavidez failed to stop his man. This is especially since Gvozdyk was 37 years old and someone who admitted that Benavidez had dominated him in sparring. But the Mexican Monster later revealed that he picked up a hand injury during the fight, which impacted his performance.
Morrell is coming off a win against Radivoje Kalajdzic in his first fight at light heavyweight. Like Benavidez, he is undefeated. He has an 11-0 record. He also moved up to 175 pounds after he failed to secure the Canelo Alvarez fight. The fight has already gotten boxing fans talking, with Floyd Mayweather recently sharing a post showing that he is excited for this fight.
Mayweather Reacts

Benavidez ruffled a few feathers with his trash talk, vowing to break Morrell’s mouth. The last time Benavidez made inflammatory comments was against Caleb Plant during the build-up to their fight. Benavidez said that he would Plant in hospital after the fighter brought up his prior failed tests for cocaine.
While Benavidez did not put Plant into hospital, he did dominate him at the back end of the fight, with Caleb clearly coming out second best. And based on his following comments, Benavidez was ready to go to war. He has 29 wins to his name, with 24 coming by knockout. Seven out of his last nine wins have come back by way of knockout, showing Morrell’s tough task since this is his toughest bout.
Benavidez On Morrell
“Here we are again. I told you guys I was gonna give you the best fights that you guys wanted to see, and we’re here again. We got this guy – he’s been talking about me for a while, for about two or three years. Disrespecting me, disrespecting my dad [Jose Sr.], disrespecting my brother [Jose]. So now, he wanted to take it personal with me. So, I’m personally gonna break his mouth, so he has something to remember me by.
“These are the type of fighters I wanna fight. I wanna fight the people that they have confidence in themselves, that they think they’re gonna go in there and knock me out, that they say that I haven’t fought somebody like him. At the end of the day, he’s never fought nobody like me. And I’mma prove to everybody that there’s levels to this. And I’m not playing when I say I’mma break his mouth, because that’s exactly what I’mma do,” Benavidez said
