Ben Whittaker Vs. Liam Cameron Predictions – ‘He Was In Trouble’

Ben Whittaker and Liam Cameron face off on April 20, as boxing insiders gave their predictions for this fight.
The fight is a rematch of their first clash, which ended in a split-decision technical draw: 58-57, 57-58, and 58-58. The fight was stopped after Whittaker could no longer continue in the fifth round when he fell over the ropes with Cameron.
Cameron returned to the ring and was ready to continue. However, Whittaker required medical assistance, as he could not continue. Cameron was aggrieved at not being given the win since he was in control of the fight before the stoppage. Meanwhile, Whittaker shut down claims that he quit. Here is how boxing insiders saw the fight playing out.
Whittaker Vs. Cameron
“Ben Whittaker started quite well. Liam Cameron does what he does very well and he was sort of walking him down a little bit, hands held high. He was drawing him into a fight, and he was turning it into his fight. If Ben Whittaker was genuinely injured, then he hasn’t got any demons to deal with.
“He’s going to go in there and he’s going to try and right the wrongs of the last one. And by the way, if he’s got the talent that we expect him to have, he will be able to adapt and we’ll see if he was underestimating Liam Cameron and he can turn it around. But Liam Cameron, you know, he is oozing with confidence at the moment,” Spencer Oliver
I think Ben Whittaker was in trouble, I think he had a real tough moment, so I think, yeah, I don’t know if he escaped with the draw, but certainly it was one he’d like to put in the rear mirror now. And he’s done the right thing—he’s looked at it, he’s teamed up with Andy Lee, who’s the hot trainer to go to at the moment. Hamza Shiraz as well, joining Joe Parker and the team there in Ireland. So I’d love to see what happens with this Andy Lee and Ben Whittaker partnership. I think Ben can win this fight if he keeps to his skills, but Liam Cameron, I’m telling you, is so up for this.
“He’s been training really, really hard, and he’s got a great story, Liam. He’s come back from a really difficult situation in life—it’s fantastic. He’s got the whole of Sheffield and Yorkshire behind him. He’s a lovely guy, and he’s worked really, really hard under the Steel City gym, and there’ll be a big support for Liam as well. But I think Ben can win it over 10 or 12. I think he’s got the tools and the ability, and I think Andy Lee will come up with a game plan—but yeah, I can’t wait for it,” Adam Smith
Further Predictions
“He’s game, very limited but very, very game. It shows you how far heart can get you… I do think he [Whittaker] will right that wrong in the next fight, I really do. But he’s got to be ready to go through hell, and that’s the thing with Ben Whittaker, I think his talent is so high and so good, but I’m just not sure if he’s cut out and made to be ready to go all out for three minutes every round.
“If someone can put it on him and sustain and absorb what he’s got, which is a lot, then I think in the second half of fights or even rounds, he’s switching off and losing them. It spells for danger in the Cameron fight, but I’m going to go Ben Whittaker,” Tony Bellew stated
