Barrios And Garcia Ready To Deliver – ‘I’m Ready Now To Do That’

Mario Barrios and Ryan Garcia held their final presser ahead of their WBC Welterweight Title fight on February 21, as the pair were confident about their chances.
Barrios defends his WBC belt, knowing a win secures him the biggest win on his resume. He arrives into the bout with a majority draw last year. Barrios has teamed up with Ryan’s ex-trainer Joe Goossen, which could pay off given Joe will have inside knowledge on Garcia’s skills.
Meanwhile, Garcia has revealed that this training camp has been defined by a total lifestyle overhaul. Following a tough 2025 that saw him lose to Rolando Romero, Garcia claims to have cut out all distractions. Ryan was out for over a year for the Romero fight after serving a year ban following his failed VADA tests for Ostarine, which saw his Devin Haney win become a no-contest. Garcia is now back training under his father Henry Garcia. The two fighters stayed largely respectful, as we look at the key moments from the presser.
Presser
“I know I’m the champion for a reason. I know everything I’ve been doing in the gym. Every time I get in there, I leave it all in there. That’s exactly what I’m looking forward to this Saturday,” Barrios
“It feels good to be back with my dad. Technically, we are undefeated together, and we’re going to continue the streak. For this championship, I feel like it’s going to make my dad’s life. Of course, it means a lot for me. I’m going to hold it with honor and pride and be the best champion I possibly can inside and outside the ring. I think I’m ready now to do that as a person and a fighter,” Garcia stated
“Thereβs not a lot of things that I havenβt seen in the sport of boxing. My long amateur career, the amount of fights I had, the amount of sparring I had. We have to see how he is but I definitely donβt think that itβs something that I havenβt seen,” Garcia added
