Barboza Jr. Outclasses Sims Jr. In 147 Debut
Arnold Barboza Jr. (33-1) successfully moved up to the 147-pound division, outclassing Kenneth Sims Jr. in a unanimous decision: 117-111, 118-110, 120-108.
The victory marks Barboza’s first appearance since suffering a loss to Teofimo Lopez in May 2025. The early rounds were a chess match, with both men attempting to establish dominance. Despite Sims’ reputation as a polished technician, Barboza proved to be the faster and harder puncher.
Barboza’s superior shot selection and ability to maintain range neutralized Sims’ jab for most of the night. In the championship rounds, a clash of heads left Barboza with a significant cut. Rather than slowing him down, the injury seemed to sharpen Barboza’s resolve, as he dominated the final rounds to seal the victory.
