Adrien Broner Checks Into A Dentist With No Teeth

Adrien Broner showed off his lost teeth following his defeat to Blair Cobbs

Broner lost a wide unanimous decision to Cobbs last Friday after talking a big game in the pre-fight presser. AB came out with various verbal shots, vowing to even die in the ring if that is what it took to get a win. But from the early parts of the fight, it was clear that Broner was not in the best position. Cobbs caught Broner with a huge left hand that sent him crashing to the canvas. While Broner got back up to continue the fight, he lost some teeth for his troubles.

It echoed the moment when Marcos Maidana knocked out Floyd Mayweather’s tooth, which he still wears today on a chain. Unlike Mayweather, however, Broner did not get the win. But he did show off his battle scars. The following photo shows Broner without his front teeth, as it’s clear that he took a lot of damage. While he lived to fight another day, with no signs that he would retire just yet, trainer Greg Hackett was not impressed by what he had seen.

Broner’s Teeth

“He wasn’t letting his hands go. He was just trying to beat him up, and I think that came from the disrespect of Blair’s style. Everybody is saying Broner should chill. If he’s not going to dedicate himself to training, he should chill. But if he’s going to be serious about it…Broner may not be what he once was, but he’s still Broner.

“When they get done with Tank, Broner needs to go to Baltimore for two months and get busy with them, feeding off their energy and really getting into shape. But the chances of him doing that are slim because he’s made all the money he is going to make and had all the fun he is going to have. Blair is like a 27-year-old kid because he hasn’t had that many fights. He just hit the lottery because he can get an opportunity against somebody,” Hackett said

Broner’s Future

Nevertheless, it is not clear where Broner goes next. He had been out of the ring for more than three years before he returned to beat Bill Hutchinson last year. That was a step in the right direction after Broner had struggled with mental health, alcohol and bankruptcy. He aimed to secure a title shot at 140, only to see those aspirations fail. He had been training with Gervonta Davis for the Cobbs fight.

Broner did arrive into the bout in good shape. But if he cannot secure a win against Cobbs, then the four-division champion must question whether he wants to continue fighting. He is unlikely to get massive paydays or big fights. But he could give back to the next generation of boxers. Broner has seen everything in the sport. He is a four-division champion who has been through various struggles. That would help equip the next generation of boxers with valuable knowledge to navigate the sport.
