In the latest boxing news, Adrien Broner is willing to fight Ryan Garcia following reports that he was considered as an opponent for ‘King Ryan.’

Garcia is currently preparing to face Oscar Duarte on December 2nd, 2023, which will be his first fight under Derrick James following his move up to junior welterweight.

But before that fight being made, Broner appeared to be in the conversation. The former is a close friend of Gervonta Davis, the latter who just so happened to give Garcia the first loss of his career.

And given that Broner had picked Davis to beat Garcia, there is enough of a narrative for the two fighters to face each other. With that being said, Broner was open to the challenge.

Broner On Garcia

“I’m the same person who fight Manny Pacquiao, why the f— will I be afraid of Saving Private Ryan. Send the contract!!! @Golden Boy I never knew nothing about the offer with the fight with [Ryan Garcia]. I’m just now finding out about that as we speak but I’m here to let you know I don’t need a tune-up for sh!t. After Ryan take care of business in December, we can make it happen ASAP,” Broner

Those comments were initially stated by Eric Gomez, the president of Golden Boy Promotions. Broner was seen as an ideal candidate for an introduction the 140-pound division since the boxer is a four-time world champion.

In addition, given that Broner has campaigned between 140-147, the boxer is fully accustomed to the weight class. In addition, the fight would likely sell huge numbers given the fanbase that they both have.

Garcia had shown such a thing as his fight with Davis sold more than 1.2 million pay-per-views. Despite this being the case, the conversations ultimately failed to prove successful. But it was not for want of trying, as Gomez went on to reveal.

Gomez On Broner

“We were going through names and there was a possibility at one point that we were going to go after Adrien Broner, which is a great name for him. It’s a great name and we had some conversations with [Broner’s promoter] Don King. Don King spoke to [Golden Boy founder] Oscar [De La Hoya] directly, ‘c’mon let’s get it on.

“But for whatever reason Broner didn’t want it at this time. Broner said he was going to do a tune-up fight first, happy to explore it early next year. So, as we were going through names, Duarte’s name came up and I was very, very surprised that they brought it up and it came from Ryan,” Gomez

Nevertheless, there is no guarantee that the fight will happen moving forward. Garcia’s ultimate aim will be to secure a world title, something which Broner cannot offer due to the absence of belts.

Therefore, fights with Rolando Romero, Devin Haney, Regis Prograis or Teofimo Lopez would be a lot bigger, as well as potentially giving Garcia the chance to win his first world title. So, for now, Broner may be out of the picture.
