Adesanya Backs Pereira To KO Blachowicz, Strickland’s Next Fight

Israel Adesanya has backed Alex Pereira to knock out Jan Blachowicz.
Pereira will be looking to bounce back from his second-round KO loss to Adesanya, as he moves up to make his debut at light heavyweight on July 29th, 2023.
Prior to that defeat, Pereira had stopped Israel to win at UFC 281. But now that he has a different challenge, Adesanya was intrigued to see how the Brazilian would match up.
“I think Alex hits harder. It’s the way he throws, the technique he throws with, the technique – he grounds himself. He’s not running. He’s not moving and throwing. He sits when he gets you where he wants you, especially against the fence.
“He’ll sit there and throw. That’s how he’s able to hit harder. Jan can definitely learn how to hit harder, but hey, if Jan gets him down, I think he’s just going to control him there for three rounds. Official pick: I’m going to go Alex by knockout,” Adesanya
Outside of Pereira, Adesanya will be looking to defend his own middleweight title. He had been linked with a fight against Dricus du Plessis following the latter’s win over Robert Whittaker.
As a result, both du Plessis and Israel had a face-off following the South African’s win.
Although that may have been the case, du Plessis had reportedly been ruled out of a fight with Adesanya due to a foot injury.
Therefore, the attention turned towards Adesanya potentially fighting Sean Strickland at UFC 293.
But as of now, Stickland is none the wiser.
“I mean I’m a grown ass man. I’d fight him right after my last fight if you pay me. I don’t think the ufc wants it soooo burgers for me.
“I will say it is wild they are having a card like that and don’t have a headline 6 weeks out,” Strickland said. “Someone at the ufc really dropped the ball on this…
“I offered. Best I could do. Maybe we can just have a parking lot event after for the aussies,” Strickland
Regardless of who the next opponent will be, Adesanya will be keen on staying active as much as possible. And at a time where his next opponent looks uncertain, that cannot be a good thing for the champion moving forward.
