Fury Vs. Joshua ‘Signed In The Background’

Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua have allegedly agreed a deal to finally settle their domestic rivalry.
The news comes after fears that the matchup was lost following a near-fatal winter for Joshua. While in Nigeria for the Christmas holidays, Joshua’s vehicle struck a stationary truck on the Lagos–Ibadan highway. The crash claimed the lives of two of his closest friends: strength coach Sina Ghami and trainer Lateef “Latz” Ayodele. Joshua survived with minor injuries but faced a grueling emotional recovery.
While the deal is reportedly signed, the timing depends on both men’s immediate schedules. Joshua is tentatively looking at a June or July 2026 return, with the Fury fight targeted for late 2026 or early 2027. Negotiations reportedly accelerated after Joshua’s knockout of Jake Paul and Fury’s decision to end his brief retirement to face Arslanbek Makhmudov on April 11.
“The Fury-Joshua fight is signed. Okay, it is signed in the background. I’ve got that on good authority. It’s with the big money people. It’ll be on Netflix. They are moving towards it, but they both want the fight,” Gareth A. Davies (reporter)
